Dubai’s Gulf Photo Plus 2015

For those of you who have ever entertained the idea of traveling to to take a photo workshop this year (and even if you haven’t), I strongly encourage you to come to Dubai’s Gulf Photo Plus from March 6-13th.  I can say without a doubt in my mind, that it’s my absolute favorite photo conference anywhere in the world. In the spirit of full disclosure, I have to admit that i’m teaching there this year, but I can honestly say that I’d do just about anything I could to be there, teaching or not.

I’ve been there five out of the last six years, and here’s why it’s the best there is:

– Truly some of the best photographers and educators in the world teaching workshops on a huge variety of topics over six days. Somehow I tricked them, and am incredibly honored and humbled to be a part of this pack. Check out the full lineup HERE.

– An incredibly intimate setting for a photo conference. We’ve all come to be quite familiar with the Holiday Inn Express in Internet City, Knowledge Village, Dubai, where we all stay (yes, it’s true). It’s a small hotel with a rooftop terrance, which enables us all to have dinner, drinks, and mingle with workshop participants and other photographers from all over the world.

– It’s in DUBAI.  If that’s not reason enough to come, I don’t know what is.  If you’ve never been to Dubai, you need to come here at least once in your life, as it’s a beautiful, completely surreal, and very special place.  Even better is that flight prices seem to be much more economical this year than in the past (I suppose there’s more flight options now than ever before).

– All your friends will be jealous.  Whether they’re photo nerds like you or not, everyone will be jealous that you got to hang out with a bunch of your new friends in Dubai for a week.  Not bad, right?

Where else in the world can you have a photo shot by Zack Arias on an Iranian shipping boat of you taking a selfie with one of the crew members?

Where in the world can you shoot a local fish market with the one and only Joe McNally?

Where can you ski inside a shopping mall with Vincent Laforet and Joey L?

Where can you witness the legendary David Burnett shooting 4×5’s of Pakistani wrestlers on a friday night?

Where can you get a portfolio review from the lighting God, Greg Heisler??

For these and so many more reasons, you need to get to Dubai, and come take a workshop at GPP.  I’ll be teaching an Intro to Studio Lighting workshop, and a more advanced Creative Lighting and Environmental Portraits workshop.  Or take another, and I won’t hold it against you.  There’s just so many amazing workshops to choose from, that if you don’t get her, you’re truly missing out on one of the absolutely best investments you can make in your photography.
